Eviny's Focus on Thermal Energy
We are intensifying our focus on developing renewable energy production and local energy solutions from thermal energy.
Norway is heading towards a power deficit as early as 2027, with capacity in Western Norway particularly strained. We have long enjoyed access to clean, renewable electric power and have largely built our energy system, building stock, and industry around this.
With increasing power demand and limited grid capacity, we aim to develop and optimize energy solutions using surplus energy and thermal energy.
Our country has ample access to various forms of thermal surplus energy, and many of the nation's largest cities have already established district heating networks based on available energy that would otherwise go to waste.
District heating is an energy source particularly well-suited for heating and helps relieve the power grid by freeing up electricity for other important purposes.
Since 2003, Eviny has built over 200 kilometers of district heating pipes, currently using surplus heat from waste incineration to heat commercial buildings, housing cooperatives, and condominiums in Bergen and Førde.
Now, we are sharpening our focus on thermal energy at Eviny:
- We enter partnerships to establish customer-centric energy solutions utilizing thermal energy.
- We optimize existing facilities to ensure longevity and maximum efficiency.
- We stay attuned to societal developments and proactively engage in projects with potential for sustainable energy solutions from solar and thermal energy.
